According to a recent study by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, snacking on nutrient-dense foods like peanut butter can improve overall health and energy levels.

In this article, we will share everything you need to know about making your own peanut butter energy balls at home. From the ingredients and steps to helpful tips and variations, get ready to enjoy this tasty and healthy treat!

BASIC INGREDIENTS

This easy energy ball recipe is very simple to convert to gluten free and/or dairy free. See the allergy substitution section below.

  • 2 c. quick oats
  • 2/3 c. shredded coconut
  • 1 tbsp. chia seeds
  • 1/2 cup raw honey
  • 1 c. natural peanut butter, creamy
  • 1 tsp. pure vanilla extract
  • 1/2 c. mini semi-sweet chocolate chips

*Note – It’s not recommended to give children under the age of 1 honey.

HOW TO MAKE PEANUT BUTTER ENERGY BALLS

First: Pour all the ingredients in a large mixing bowl and stir to combine with a wooden spoon.

Third: Refrigerate about an hour until they are firm and transfer them to an airtight container for storage. Store your no bake peanut butter energy balls in the refrigerator and enjoy for up to 7 days.

ALLERGY SUBSTITUTIONS

Dairy – we use Enjoy Life’s dairy free chocolate chips.

Gluten – make sure your oats are certified gluten free.

Peanuts – sunflower seed butter or almond butter (at room temperature) can be substituted for the creamy peanut butter.

OPTIONAL VARIATIONS

-Flaxseed meal and/or hemp seeds are a great addition to this base recipe. They add additional healthy fats and fiber.

-Substitute pure maple syrup for the honey and dark chocolate chips for the semi-sweet.

-Instead of rolling the mixture into balls, press it into a parchment-lined pan to form granola bars.

I love having these on hand. They make a quick snack that not only satisfies a sweet tooth, but also the combination of healthy fats, protein, and fiber helps to keep you full longer.

Hello there!

I’m Sarah, wife and homeschooling mama of 2 boys.

When I’m not in the kitchen cooking and baking up a storm, I love being outdoors enjoying the sunshine or going for an evening golf cart stroll with my hubby on our farm.

I have a passion for keeping our home free of chemicals and making from-scratch meals we can all enjoy.

I thank God each day for giving me the opportunity to share my mission of keeping our home as natural and healthy as possible.
