If your grocery budget feels impossible right now, this Budget Friendly Aldi meal plan feeds four people delicious food for seven days without clipping a single coupon.

It gives you seven complete dinners, some leftovers for lunch, plus breakfast staples and snacks for a family of four. Everything comes from one shopping trip to Aldi, and the total lands right around $135. No extreme couponing.
Just real food your family will actually eat without destroying your budget.
WHAT YOU GET IN THIS WEEKLY MEAL PLAN
This includes a pretty comprehensive list for the meal plan. Nothing requires special equipment beyond a crockpot, bread machine, and basic pots and pans.
With that being said, my list may differ a little bit from yours just based on what pantry staples you have on hand. You will see that I don’t purchase every single ingredient needed for these meals on this shopping trip, however I do stock up on a few pantry items so, regardless you should come pretty close when picking up items you need.
For instance, you’ll see I’ve purchased 4 bags of frozen peas. I have ducks that enjoy peas for treats. You may not need 4 bags of peas! I needed to restock my olive oil and vanilla extract, but maybe you already have that on hand.
I did also purchase some more expensive items like the organic grass-fed ground beef and free-range eggs. Maybe those choices are not important to you, so you can see there’s flexibility in all of this to possibly reduce your cost or switch up some items to make it work for you and your family.
YOUR SEVEN DINNERS:
- Crockpot chicken thighs with mashed potatoes and green beans (same recipe as linked, just with chicken thighs instead)
- Grilled cheese sandwiches with a side salad (yummy with my Bread Machine Oatmeal Bread)
- Homemade pizza
- Classic spaghetti with meat sauce + served with cooked peas
- Pepperjack potato soup (use colby-jack cheese instead if you don’t like the little bit of spice)
- Hamburger gravy over mashed potatoes + served with cooked carrots
- Breakfast for dinner (try my IHOP style pancakes recipe or breakfast casserole)
BREAKFAST OPTIONS:
Scrambled eggs and toast, or meal prep a breakfast casserole (if you’re not planning on making that for your breakfast for dinner one of the evenings).
Have a bowl of oatmeal with some fresh strawberries.
Slices of toast topped with either butter and jelly or peanut butter for some added protein.
SNACKS:
Baked goods made with pantry staples. This particular week, I made homemade banana bread because I had overripe bananas I needed to use up from the week before.
Fruit – including apple slices & peanut butter.
Corn chips (with salsa, if you have it on hand like I did).
Granola bars (if purchased).

HOW TO COOK EACH MEAL WITHOUT LOSING YOUR MIND
A little bit of planning ahead and prep make these meals work on busy weeknights.
- Sunday – In the morning, start Pepperjack Potato Soup in crockpot for supper. This particular week, I doubled the recipe to have additional leftovers for lunch throughout the week. Prepare Bread Machine Oatmeal Bread (if baking your own bread). Recipe makes 2 loaves. Set aside for next few days during the week. If you don’t want to bake bread, find a reasonable choice at Aldi.
- Monday – Usually a chaotic night during the week with getting back to work. I chose to make grill cheese and salad for supper tonight. Thankfully we still had leftover soup for lunch tomorrow.
- Tuesday – Throw chicken thighs in the crockpot for supper. Made similar to my Crockpot Chicken Leg recipe. Prepare sides to go along with. Reheat leftovers for lunch tomorrow.
- Wednesday – Spaghetti night. I do like to throw a quick sauce in the crockpot. If your budget allows, or if you are short on time this week, you could purchase a jar of sauce while you’re at the store. My crockpot recipe for spaghetti sauce is:
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 – 28 oz. can crushed tomatoes
- 1 – 6 oz. can tomato paste
- 1 tbsp. Italian seasoning
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. black pepper
- 3/4 c. water
- Dump ingredients in crock pot and stir to combine. Cook on low 6 – 8 hours. I like to add 1/2 pound of ground beef (browned) to this. You’ll use the other 1/2 lb. later in the week.
- Make enough for leftovers for lunch tomorrow.
- Thursday -Hamburger gravy. This recipe will use up 1 lb. of your hamburger purchased.
- Friday – Homemade pizza. Use remaining 1/2 lb. of browned hamburger from spaghetti night as one of your toppings, if desired.
- Saturday – We ate hot dogs for lunch (my youngest son’s request). Breakfast for dinner. Works perfect on a day in our schedule when we don’t need leftovers for lunch the next day.
Each meal serves four with reasonable portions. If your kids are tiny or you have big eaters, adjust as needed.
MISTAKES THAT WASTE MONEY AT ALDI
Aldi is cheaper, but only if you shop smart. These mistakes turn a $135 trip into $180 before you realize what happened.
Buying prepackaged snacks: Those little snack packs add up fast. Stick to the meal plan and skip the impulse buys near checkout.
Not checking the weekly ad: Aldi rotates sales. If a different cut of chicken is cheaper this week, grab that instead and adjust.
Forgetting your bags: Bags cost extra. Bring reusable ones or grab empty boxes from the store.
Shopping hungry: You will buy things that are not on the list. Eat first.
Aldi does not accept coupons, so do not waste time looking. Their prices are already lower than coupon deals at other stores.

Every family deserves to eat well without wondering how the bills will get paid. This meal plan proves that feeding four people real food on a tight budget is not just possible in 2026, but it is completely doable with one trip to Aldi and a solid plan.
Blessings,
