Taco Seasoning Recipe - Easy

This easy taco seasoning recipe is my go‑to spice blend for taco night! Bold from smoked paprika, warm from cumin, fragrant with oregano, and rounded out with just the right amount of garlic, onion, and a little heat.

Ingredients
  

  • 9 tablespoons smoked paprika
  • 6 tablespoons cumin
  • 3 tablespoons onion powder
  • 3 tablespoons dried oregano
  • teaspoons garlic powder
  • teaspoons salt
  • 3 teaspoons (1 tablespoon) chili powder
  • teaspoons black pepper

Instructions
 

  • Add all spices to a small bowl.
  • Whisk until fully combined.
  • Store in an airtight container or mason jar.

How to use taco seasoning:

  • Cook 1 pound of ground meat in a large skillet over medium heat, breaking it up as it cooks.
  • Once fully cooked, drain excess grease if needed and return the meat to the pan.
  • Sprinkle in 3 tablespoons of homemade taco seasoning and 1 tablespoon of corn starch. Stir to coat the meat evenly.
  • Pour in 3/4 cup of water, stirring to combine.
  • Let the mixture simmer for 3–5 minutes, or until the sauce thickens and clings to the meat.
  • Taste and adjust seasoning if desired, then serve warm.
