- 1 cup hot water
- 1 tbsp washing soda
- 1 tbsp baking soda bicarbonate of soda
- 1 tbsp unscented castile soap
- 1 –2 tbsp hydrogen peroxide 3%
- Spray bottle high‑output or foaming style
Dissolve the powders. Add hot water to a heat‑safe container. Stir in washing soda until dissolved, then add baking soda.
Add castile soap. Stir gently to avoid excess bubbles.
Add hydrogen peroxide. This boosts cleaning power for deep cleaning.
Cool slightly, then pour into a spray bottle. Warm is fine—just not hot.
Spray generously inside the oven. Avoid the heating elements.
Let it sit 30–40 minutes. For heavy buildup, re‑spritz halfway through to keep surfaces wet.
Scrub + wipe. Use a non‑scratch pad, damp cloth, or damp rag.
Rinse well. Wipe with warm water until the surface feels clean, not slippery.
For stubborn spots. Apply a thick paste of baking soda + lemon juice and leave it overnight. Wipe the next day.
Final shine (optional). Finish with a spritz of vinegar to remove residue and deodorize.
Note: This homemade oven cleaner should be used immediately after mixing and is not intended for storage because it contains hydrogen peroxide.
