DIY Gel Air Freshener Using Essential Oils

A quick, natural way to freshen any room, these DIY gel air fresheners use simple ingredients and essential oils to create long‑lasting, non‑toxic fragrance.

Materials

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons gelatin or agar agar for vegan
  • 1 tablespoon salt prevents mold
  • 20 –30 drops essential oils
  • Optional: dried herbs citrus slices, flower petals, or food‑safe natural color

Instructions

  • Heat ¾ cup of the water until steaming.
  • Whisk in the gelatin until fully dissolved.
  • Add the salt and stir.
  • Remove from heat and add the remaining ¼ cup cool water.
  • Add your essential oils.
  • Pour into a small glass jar or ramekin.
  • Add dried herbs or citrus slices for decoration.
  • Let it set at room temperature, then place anywhere you want fresh scent.
