Say Goodbye to Harsh Chemicals: Discover the Incredible Benefits of Natural Homemade Floor Cleaner -It’s easy to make and works great!

Did you know that the average American household spends over $600 annually on cleaning products? Ouch! That’s a significant amount of money that could be saved with a simple, natural solution.
In a world where we are constantly bombarded with chemicals and toxins, it’s no wonder that more and more people are turning to natural and homemade alternatives for their cleaning needs. Considering that our feet’s skin can absorb chemicals, it seemed like a good reason for me to create my own diy cleaner.
In this article, we will explore an easy, natural homemade floor cleaner that not only works great, but also saves you money and is better for the environment. Get ready to say goodbye to harsh chemicals and hello to a cleaner, greener home.
TYPE OF FLOOR
With any type of homemade cleaning solutions, you should always spot test your product first. Try it out in a small area that is in an inconspicuous spot.
We have a few different floor types in our home including laminate flooring, vinyl floors, and ceramic tile. I have used this diy cleaning recipe on each of them for years and have had great success.
NATURAL PRODUCTS
This natural floor cleaner uses common household ingredients. Takes just a few minutes to put together and, in my opinion, it is the best homemade floor cleaner. It is an easy swap to a non-toxic option in your floor cleaning routine!

MOPPING SOLUTION INGREDIENTS:
- tap water
- liquid castile soap
- drops of your favorite essential oil for cleaning (optional)
*Note: If you do not have any liquid castile soap, you can substitute liquid dish soap in place of it.
EQUIPMENT NEEDED
I will provide you with two variations on the recipe. You will need either a spray mop or a traditional mop with a mop bucket.
I also have a Tineco cordless iFloor 2 (which I highly recommend) and have used the same solution that the recipe specifies for the spray mop.

RECIPE FOR THIS EASY NATURAL HOMEMADE FLOOR CLEANER
SPRAY MOP
- 2 c. warm water
- 1/2 tsp. liquid castile soap
- 2 drops of essential oil, optional (I enjoy using lemon essential oil for cleaning – especially if you have any sticky spots)
Combine ingredients directly in spray mop solution container. Gently shake to combine.
TRADITIONAL MOP WITH BUCKET
- 2 gallons hot water
- 1/4 c. liquid castile soap
- 5 drops of essential oil, optional
Combine ingredients directly in mop bucket starting with soap, followed by water. Mix with mop to combine. This will not create many suds – that’s ok. I don’t want a soapy residue left on my floors. If you’re looking for a sudsier option, replace the castile soap with dish soap.

Try it out on your dirty floor and let me know what you think in the comments below. 🙂
*Note: This diy floor cleaner recipe is not only the best way to clean your floors, but if you use a spin mop like I have, it works great on your baseboards as well.

Ditch the store-bought cleaners and opt for simple ingredients that are toxin-free to create a healthier home!
